Print price increases coming... and a weekend ebook sale

Prices schmices

If you've been following book news lately, you'll have heard that Amazon KDP is reducing their royalties for paperbacks sold under $9.99.

Three of my books are caught under this:

  • The Painted Hall Collection ($6.99)
  • Coexist ($6.99)
  • Dongeng ($8.99)

Amazon has notified me that I'll be earning 0 on these books if I don't adjust the price by their deadline of 10 June... :(

Since I have to adjust the prices anyway, I'm planning on doing a complete price restructuring as well as a massive update of all the backmatter... once I'm done with our Penang Writing Workshops & retreat.

So if you do want a paperback copy of any of my books, especially the three listed above, at these "now-discounted" (lol) prices, get them by Sunday, 8 June. (Gotta leave some buffer for unexpected upload errors.)

I'm also experimenting with books.by, a new direct storefront with POD capabilities, so if you'd like to give that a chance, hop on over to my new international storefront! It offers flat rate shipping of $5 internationally, so this'll probably benefit those who aren't already Amazon Prime users.

It currently doesn't have the older titles, mostly because I am a chaos gremlin who hasn't structured her book files in any meaningful way since 2015, but I'm working on it. Once I find and update the files.

Of course, if you're Malaysian, you can still get all the books directly from me. No pesky conversion rates, and cheaper local shipping.

Now, how about a sale?

Amok was selected for Kobo's May Long Weekend 2025 promotion from 23 to 27 May.

Which means, since I handle most ebooks through Draft2Digital, it should be on sale at $0.99 everywhere except Amazon and Google Play.

Note: This list only appears if you're on the US site, since it's a US promo, but the discount is applicable worldwide. If you can't access the link, just search for the title in your country site! :)

ALSO THEY FINALLY PUT AMOK ON KOBO PLUS, EVEN THOUGH I TICKED YES FOR THAT OPTION SINCE FOREVER. Now I have to figure out why the rest of the series isn't on it yet.

*technology, sigh*

Updates on Honour!

I've been sitting on this a bit, but I'm almost finished with final edits for this, uh, novelette. It is no longer a short story, as much as I tried. But at any rate, I'll end this newsletter with a first look at Honour's cover, by the wonderful Dhiyanah Hassan!

The current launch date will be on 2 June, ASSUMING I'm that efficient. Well, either way, you'll find out in about 10 days!

Back to editing!

4 February 2024 Happy Birthday, everybody! According to tradition, the 7th day of Chinese New Year is everybody's birthday. Which... is just an excuse for me to send another sporadic newsletter because I skipped all the other big days. But hey, here's your excuse to eat more cake. Or have a party. Chinese New Year decorations at Armenian Park, Penang, along with random passersby. Looking for Beta Readers As part of my glacial revamping efforts, I've been working on a new story that I'd like...

Black Friday Book Sale: Black Friday to Cyber Monday at blackfridaybooksale.com

28 November 2024 What are you thankful for? Americans are celebrating Thanksgiving tonight, before heading into that weird sales holiday of Black Friday to Cyber Monday. Here in Malaysia, we're equal-opportunity celebrationists (celebrants? holidayers? people who celebrate stuff), which usually means that we'll celebrate ANYTHING that gives us time off, has great food, and/or comes with discounts. (Side note: this year's big holiday kerfuffle was WHY IS HALLOWEEN TAKING OVER DEEPAVALI? Where...

26 October 2024 New books and a giveaway Hey there Reader! Can you believe it's the end of October? I can't. Time is... weird. My head is still somewhere in, idk, August or something. Anyway, here's your (irregularly) scheduled email about Anna-related bookish stuff! The Books and Bonfires Giveaway just started yesterday and will run until November 3rd. It's a little too hot (and wet) for those of us in Malaysia to get cosy by a fire, but no matter where you are, you can discover amazing new...
