What are you thankful for?

Americans are celebrating Thanksgiving tonight, before heading into that weird sales holiday of Black Friday to Cyber Monday. Here in Malaysia, we're equal-opportunity celebrationists (celebrants? holidayers? people who celebrate stuff), which usually means that we'll celebrate ANYTHING that gives us time off, has great food, and/or comes with discounts.

(Side note: this year's big holiday kerfuffle was WHY IS HALLOWEEN TAKING OVER DEEPAVALI? Where is our CULTURE?)

(Other side note: The malls are now in Christmas mode, but smaller retail shops/markets are prepping for Chinese New Year...)

If you're one of those celebrating, happy Thanksgiving! I hope the year has been good to you, and the next year will be too.

If you're not, happy sales weekend! I hope the year has been good to you, and the next year will be too.

This year, I'm thankful for being able to attend Worldcon in Glasgow, constant work (though I complain about it), having a new book out in a new market (well, not really new, but through a local publisher), and well, being alive.

What about you?

Sales!

Being equal-opportunists means that even though I don't celebrate Thanksgiving, I'm including my books as part of the Black Friday Book Sale!

If you haven't already gotten the Absolution Series or A Spoonful of Malaysian Magic, make sure you grab them while they're $0.99 each.

23 May 2025 Prices schmices If you've been following book news lately, you'll have heard that Amazon KDP is reducing their royalties for paperbacks sold under $9.99. Three of my books are caught under this: The Painted Hall Collection ($6.99) Coexist ($6.99) Dongeng ($8.99) Amazon has notified me that I'll be earning 0 on these books if I don't adjust the price by their deadline of 10 June... :( Since I have to adjust the prices anyway, I'm planning on doing a complete price restructuring as...

4 February 2024 Happy Birthday, everybody! According to tradition, the 7th day of Chinese New Year is everybody's birthday. Which... is just an excuse for me to send another sporadic newsletter because I skipped all the other big days. But hey, here's your excuse to eat more cake. Or have a party. Chinese New Year decorations at Armenian Park, Penang, along with random passersby. Looking for Beta Readers As part of my glacial revamping efforts, I've been working on a new story that I'd like...
